Dior Presents 31st Beaujolais Nouveau in Atlanta

One of my favorite events of the year, La Fête Beaujolais Noveau in Atlanta is part of a worldwide festival that takes place throughout various cities the third week of November. This celebration which is organized by the FACC- Atlanta (French American Chamber of Commerce) remains the largest event in the Southeastern United States dedicated to the tasting of the new harvest of Beaujolais Nouveau wine. The wine originated about a century ago as a cheap and cheerful drink produced by locals in France to celebrate the end of their harvest season.

Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made from the Gamay grape in the Beaujolais region of France. Every year on the third Thursday of November, the young red vin de primeur is released to the market in a frenzy of promotion, buying, drinking and parties everywhere. Just 6-8 weeks old, the wine is intended for immediate consumption. Just as green beer on St. Patrick’ s Day, this wine is usually had simply for fun and as part of the Beaujolais Nouveau festivities.

The event which is normally held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead features a gourmet French buffet prepared by the executive chef, pop-up boutiques, a jazz singer, fashion presentation, a silent auction and dancing.

I don’t like to miss anything and so I always end up staying until the very end. For example, here is my friend Binh closing out the evening with a beautiful classical solo performance on the piano. He’s so talented 🙂

To join the fun next year, you can follow FACC- Atlanta on their Facebook or Instagram page, or visit the website to sign up for their newsletter.
